I replaced the glow plugs and confirmed that the harness is connected correctly, coolant temp sensor replaced too. I have noticed that there are bubbles in the fuel You should read 12 volts before starting and around 14 volts once it starts and the alternator is charging the battery. Also check for loose connections between the alternator and battery. Check that the ground wire from the battery is secured to the vehicles frame. Good luck! Posted on Oct 18, 2011. Engine cranks for about 2 seconds and stops (no firing at all). It's not the starter motor as cranking speed is very good. There are no warning lights, and after struggling for few minutes, it does start eventually. Any ideas will be appreciated. Hello all, I have recently purchased a 2007 Q7 3.0tdi from Copart. Since the vehicle has arrived I have been unable to start it. Work carried out so far. I have replaced the battery (Yuasa) as the vehicle would crank but felt slow. Repaired a broken wire under the J17 terminal (blue with yellow trace) This will make the fuel pump run for just a few seconds. The fuel pump should run continuously while the starter motor is engaged and stop a second or two after you let off the key (assuming the engine start was not successful). The "remote control" is a diagnostic tool used to close the fuel pump relay on command. The cranking rpm was slow 147 rpm so we have replaced the starter now it's cranking alot better at 250 rpm. The pump has been taken off and checked the shaft and the imv for swarf all seems fine. If we have the imv in no fuel will come through however pulling the plug off allows diesel to flow through into the hp pipes. vcja.
